This Civil Department was started in 2009 with basic equipment for Undergraduate Course. From start, Civil Engineering Laboratories has been modified and updated several times to changing syllabus and technology. In addition to classrooms and laboratories, we have independent computer lab to train the students and faculty to learn new softwares of future needs.
Civil Engineering is considered the most versatile and oldest among all engineering branches. It is the branch with a lot of diversity. The Department’s vision is to give an exposure to budding civil technocrats to various challenges in the profession having a highly qualified and experienced faculty with excellent academic record. There is a combination of academic excellence and industrial experience amongst the faculty, which is instrumental in imparting the right blend of theoretical and practical knowledge to the students.
Subjects taught include Surveying, Concrete Technology, Geotechnical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Hydraulics, Hydrology & Water Resources Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Geographic Information System, Environmental Engineering, and Construction Project Planning Management. In addition, activities like seminars, projects, assignments, quizzes and other such competitions are conducted on regular basis to induce the professional skills in the students, which ultimately help them in getting placed in reputed organizations.
Dr. K. Rama Krishna Reddy is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at TKR College of Engineering and Technology, Hyderabad. He earned his Ph.D. and M.Tech. in Water Resources Engineering from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Patna, with research focused on numerical modelling of soil wetting patterns for efficient drip irrigation system design. His expertise includes Water Resources Engineering, Irrigation Engineering, Hydrology, Numerical Modelling, GIS, Remote Sensing, MATLAB, and Hydraulic Modelling. Dr. Reddy has published research papers in reputed international journals and presented his work at national and international conferences. He served as a Teaching Assistant at a premier institute during his doctoral studies and later worked as Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Civil Engineering at a reputed engineering college in Tirupati, where he gained valuable academic and administrative experience. He has also guided several Undergraduate projects. He actively participates in faculty development programmes and has delivered invited lectures on Remote Sensing and GIS applications. Passionate about research, innovation, and outcome-based education, he is committed to empowering future civil engineers through quality teaching, industry collaboration, and sustainable engineering practices.
